things can only get better

It was a bad week for Everton last week and during the ‘international break’ things just got worse.  Big Victor Anichebe on duty with Nigeria suffered a groin injury and Leighton Baines has left the England bench with a niggle that could leave him out of our match against Villa on Saturday.  If neither are fit for purpose we can assume we’ll get an early look at Drenthe and Stracqualursi.

The scariest news for Evertonians however came in a couple of lines in an article about James Beattie being let go by the free-scoring and attack-minded Glasgow Rangers -

“James Beattie could be on his way back to the Premier League, with former clubs Everton and Blackburn joining Newcastle in the quest to take advantage of his availability”
